Susie Marie Pittman Cope

Susie Marie Pittman Cope, age 86, of Waynesville, NC passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023.

She was born in Haywood County on August 23, 1937, to the late Edward and Edna Fisher Pittman. Susie loved to cook, bake, read and watch the Braves and Panthers. In her earlier years she loved watching NASCAR and being at Lake Chatuge. Susie and her late husband, Dan, traveled extensively in the US going from coast to coast and to the Mexican and Canadian borders; many times to visit friends, but often with no specific destination in mind. Most of all Susie loved spending time with her family and will be remembered as being "the Best Memaw in the world."

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Dan Cope; brothers, Paige and Eddie Pittman; and niece, DeDe Bolden.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Rita Cope Carver (Tim) and Danna Sue Greene; granddaughter, Andrea Carver; grandson, Zane Whitner (Lindsay); great-granddaughters, Bryn and Blakely Whitner; great-nephews, Ryan and Lucus Bolden; and best friend, Betty Boger.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 23, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Tim McConnell and the Reverend Larry Seifferman officiating.

The family would like to offer a special word of thanks to the caring staff at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehab and to friends and neighbors who called to check on Susie regularly.
