Thomas Edward Cooper, age 77, of Waynesville, NC, passed away on Monday, October 19th, 2026 from heart complications.
He was born on May 17th, 1949, one of eight children to Jim and Bonnie Cooper.
Tommy married Carolyn Wilson Cooper in 1970 and they had one son, Christopher Edward Cooper together in 1973. They were divorced in 1980 but lived side by side as neighbors and best friends for the past 26 years. Tommy was involved in a motorcycle accident before the birth of his son but never let his disability affect his ability to live a full life of 77 years.
He was an incredible father, son, husband, sibling and friend to all here in the town of Waynesville. He is a shining example of how a selfless human being should live their life regardless of the circumstances we're born into.
He is survived by his oldest brother, Luther Cooper, and his two sisters, Freda Bryant and Carolyn Stewart. Tommy will be missed by all but we will see him again.
Visitation will be held at Garrett Funeral Home on Sunday, October 25th, 2026 between 12:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m and a Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m.
