Charles Lewis Mc Gehee Jr.

Passed away peacefully, at his home of 58 years, on October 25, 2016.

He was surrounded by Steve, Jeff and Susan. Loving husband of the late Jennie (Waters). Survived by his sister Martha Carlisle, his sons, Steven, Jeffrey (Susan) and Douglas, and his grandsons Joshua, Dylan and Jordan.

Charles was born in Okolona MS the son of Charles and Mary (McDowell) McGehee. He joined the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was send to the Pacific where he served for 3 years. He used the G.I. Bill to go to Washington University and graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. While at Wash. U. he joined the Theta Xi fraternity and remained a lifelong member. After graduation, for the next four years he toured college campuses as a representative of the fraternity.

He met Jennie Waters while both worked at the Johnson Stephens and Shinkle Shoe Company. They were married on June 14, 1958 at Forest Park. After the shoe company closed Charles worked for Business Supply Center. He retired in 1989. He spent his retirement attending his grandsons sporting events, rooting for his beloved Cardinals and Blues and attending family reunions in Mississippi, Illinois and Kentucky. He especially enjoyed his continued involvement with the Theta Xi fraternity. Once a month he would get together with other retired fraternity brothers for lunch. He remained lifelong friends with many of them.

Services: Memorial gravesite services at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Friday November 4 1:30pm with full military honors.
