With every human being dies a whole world
Eva Karl died peacefully at the age of 92. She was born in Berlin (Germany), where she survived the Berlin bombing during WW2. After the war she immigrated to the USA, which became her second home. Eva worked as social worker and teacher at Roosevelt High school where she impressed students and teachers alike by her immense knowledge and her academic intervention skills. She retired at the age of 87 after many years of unpaid service. All her life she had two fox terriers as faithful companions. With passion she created the most delicate Christmas decorations. She loved to play tennis and became an active member and tennis instructor of the Tower grove Park Tennis club. That is where she met Joseph M. Karl (deceased). They married and together they enjoyed tennis and social life at the club.
She is survived by her sister Gabriele (Mimi) von der Burg (Frankfurt Germany), her brothers Dr. Michael Umlauff (Berlin, Germany) and Peter Umlauff (Vienna, Austria) and her stepson Norman Karl (St.Louis); her devoted friend Barbara Manson and caregiving neighbors Kathy and Carl Wolff.
