

John Reginald "Jack" Kellogg, age 89, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2013 in St. Louis, MO. Born August 5, 1924 in Athens, Georgia, Jack was one of two children of Charles and Catherine Kellogg. Jack was raised in Falls Church, Virginia. Enrolled as a member of the Corps of Cadets at Virginia Polytechnic Institute during World War II, he was commissioned in the United States Army Air Force (USAAF) and served from 1943-1945. He trained to pilot B-24 Liberator bombers and achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Following his service, he returned to Virginia Tech and graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He was immediately employed by Monsanto in Norfolk, Virginia where he had interned during college.
On June12, 1948, Jack married the love of his life, Betsy Jane Dunn of Radford, Virginia. The family lived in Norfolk, Virginia and moved to Webster Groves in 1956 where he continued his 40-year career with Monsanto at the company's Corporate Headquarters in St. Louis. A lifelong volunteer, Jack was involved with the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Indian Guides, Youth Baseball, the Metro Collegiate Baseball League, and the Webster Groves Presbyterian Church.
Residing in Webster Groves for 57 years, Jack enjoyed playing golf, following the St. Louis Cardinals and his alma mater Virginia Tech, playing poker with old friends, woodworking, wine making, and cooking wonderful spaghetti. A much-loved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, son, son-in-law, and brother. Jack was a patient, honest and caring man known for his dedication and dry sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by Betsy, his loving wife of 41 years. He is survived by, five children, John Kellogg Jr., David (Denise) Kellogg, Cynthia (Rick) Leonardi, Julie (Chuck) Kaiser, and Doug (Michelle) Kellogg; and nine grandchildren, Zachary, Leigh, Elizabeth, Janie, Ryley, Caroline, Annie , Henry, and Makenna; his sister, Eugenia Williams.
Funeral service will be held Webster Groves Presbyterian Church, 45 W Lockwood Ave., at 10:00am on September 14th. Private interment.
