What a loving, wonderful, spiritual friend, professor; colleague who was an embodiment of love & courage. He was a man of God who made my darkest day, more brighter than unblemished sunlight!
Lee was a learned  creative man, compelling me beside him to be more curious, loving and unafraid; to have the courage to be who I am to make my way into the world in order to make miracles happen. I remember smoking pipes and his warm smile that opened my world; life and introduced me so holy to be.
God continues to love and bless him beyond the memories of those who were moved to live.

Over many years I have often remembered Prof. Whiston as a giant of a man, intellectually, spiritually, physically. I will continue to do so as I did this morning before learning of his death.

So sorry to read of your father's passing in today's Webster Kirkwood Times.  He and your mom were great friends to the Pedersens. Their presence in our lives and, I am sure in the lives of many, has shaped us and given us the tools that we need to keep us on an ethical and active path.  Our father, Art Pedersen, passed on June 14, 2011. In some ways these simultaneous passings bring to mind Jefferson and Adams.  All our love to your family.

Dot and Lee got me thru seminary.  Lee was my advisor as well as my boss, my teacher, guide and friend.He may no longer be with us physically, but he will forever be an important part of my life.

In addition to enjoying Lee's monthy "study groups" for several years, I had the pleasure of "accompanying" Lee on the Call-A-Ride service to church every 6 weeks or so.  The neat part about that was the 15-30 minutes we had waiting for the bus in front of Laclede Groves and the one-on-one conversations we had.  He wasn't at all a bad choice to have as a companion on a deserted isle. I'll miss him.

Charlie, I was remiss in contacting you when your mother passed away, and I am sorry.  When I read your father's notice many fond thoughts about your parents and also about playing with you at your house on Lake, the cub scout troupe 306 softball team, and SYB's Big Bend Bank baseball team came flooding back.  I'm sorry for your losses, however I pray that you and your family will celebrate all the joys that your parents shared with you.

Lee Whiston was a pioneer in offering film as a way to deliver a religious message at Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church. He found lessons in movies that most people never realized until he pointed them out. He was among the first to offer film as a religious art form. His witty presentations, expansive knowledge and kindly ways are sadly missed by his many friends at Ladue Chapel.
