He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, graduated from John Burroughs School, then attended the University of Colorado where he met his wife Peggy. They married in 1948.
He is survived by his children, Stephen (Keiko), Edith Taylor, and Michael (Anne); three grandchildren, Sarah Larkin, Geoffrey and Alexander (Kelsey) Ledbetter; and one great grandchild, Annabelle.
He followed in his father’s footsteps and took a job with Ralston Purina, where he worked for 36 years. Upon his retirement he devoted himself to both charities and the arts. He was on the founding board of Kids in the Middle, president of Urban Homes in Saint Louis, and a long-time member and President Emeritus of The Saint Louis Poetry Center. He pursued the arts of photography and poetry with equal passion for many years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Saint Louis Poetry Center, Food Outreach, or Kids in the Middle.
There will be a Visitation from 5-8 PM, Friday September 23 at Gerber Chapel, 23 W Lockwood Avenue, Webster Groves.
