

Margaret F. Donovan, 97, died Fri., July 29, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center following a brief illness. Margaret and her husband, Wayne, moved in 1948 from their home in Tulsa, OK, to Webster Groves, where the couple raised four children: Raymond W. (“Don”) Donovan, Jr., M.D. (Margo), G. Michael Donovan (Fran); Kathy Donovan Davis, and Kevin J. Donovan (Ann). Her husband died in 1979.
In the 1990s, Margaret moved to Kirkwood, MO., and since 2005 lived at The Gatesworth in Ladue. She was an active member of First Congregational Church in Webster Groves, and at Samuel United Church of Christ in Clayton. Margaret worked as secretary to the president of Eden Theological Seminary from 1961 to 1982. She made lifelong friendships during her years at Eden, and continued to hear from former students the rest of her life. In addition, Margaret loved to travel, enjoyed bridge and garden clubs, church, volunteering, and above all, her family.
Moving to The Gatesworth in 2005, she made many new friends and enjoyed an active social life, continued traveling, and served on the resident board and several committees.
In addition to her children, Margaret is survived by grandchildren Ryan, Stacy, David, John (Melanie) and Timothy Donovan, Megan and Peter Davis, and great-grandsons Alex and Caleb George.
Margaret was a thoughtful and loving friend, who long will be remembered for her beautiful smile, unlined face, and stylish appearance.
A Memorial Service for Margaret will be held at 1 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 20 at Samuel UCC, 320 N. Forsyth, Clayton, MO. Memorials preferred to Samuel UCC or charity of one’s choice.
