

Meade Melvin (Bud) McCain, Jr: Beloved husband of Betty “Pat” McCain; son of late Meade and Jeanette McCain; brother of Barbara (late John) Martin of Santa Fe; father of Leslie McCain; uncle, great uncle, cousin to many. Bud fought in the Battle of the Bulge; was a proud American; active in church as a deacon, trustee, and for 70 years a choir member. A graduate of Washington University, President of Swope Shoe Company, a 124 year old retail shoe firm, he later affiliated with CB Gundaker Realtors. His dynamic careers included membership in St. Louis Rotary, Shriners, Sons of the Revolution; service as a Director of Downtown St. Louis Inc. and Natl. Shoe Retailers Assn; Co-founder, Commodore of Carlyle Yacht Club. He and Pat traveled extensively, skied in Colorado and Austria. Their home, country home at Sugar Tree Club and sailboat were always filled with guests. Bud took great pleasure in boating, playing tennis, gardening, hunting, fishing, and watching sunsets. However, he was best known as a person who shared himself in every way, his enthusiasm for life, his smile. Visitation: March 16, 10-11 am, Ladue Chapel, 9450 Clayton Rd, Ladue. Internment: 11:30 am, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorial Service: March 17, 1 pm, Ladue Chapel. Donations to Shriners Hosp. for Children, or St. Louis Rotary Welfare Fund appreciated.
