We have such fond memories of time spent with Ed sharing accounts of experiences in China.  He graciously gave us books from his professional library for the Nanjing Theological Seminary a few years ago and thus continued to express his concern for Chinese Christianity in a very concrete manner.

I just learned of Ed's passing and I am saddened by the news.  The last years of Ed's ministry in Iowa City are among my fondest memories I was able to do some remodeling at the UCC church and in contact with Ed most every day.  Renovating the steeple of that magnificent historic church and other work around the building was a blessing to me.  Not only the work but the long friendship established in the years leading up to Ed's retirement in 1989.  The family I knew of Ed Mary Mark and Jim all very kind and loving people helped us realize the love our Lord Jesus tells us to live in our earthly lives.  I will never forget the times spent together and the very meaningful sermons and conversations that came from that time.  My condolences to the family, I know Ed has gone home to be with our Savior and we will all miss him.  May God be with you all and know that Ed is loved.  We wish you Peace Love and Joy,

On Easter, hear the angel say, "He is not here; he is risen." Ed is not dead; he is risen, with Jesus and all the saints. And he is in our heads and hearts, lifting us by his gifts of gentle love, passion for justice, and compassion for all. He undergirded me and my ministry when others were undermining. He was and is a goldmine of goodness.

I came to the Iowa City UUC when Ed was pastor.  I had not been a UUC member before and valued Ed's insightful ministry.  Once he chose to include my 'belief' in a newsletter -- it expressed my struggle to formulate my beliefs and Ed honored that.  I thank him.  Millie Moffett, Madison, WI

Mary and children, i write to express my sadness and moral support upon the death of your husband. please know i am praying for you and your entire family. I have  known you through your daughter Margot Olson, we workshop in the same congregation. May God give you grace to go through this mourning period.

I am sorry to hear of Ed;s death.  He was a man who loved me in spite of myself as a "young buck" new pastor at Trinity UCC in Marengo.  I will always have fond and warm memories of he and you as I learned and grew from the way you lived your life and shared in the ministry of Jesus Christ.  You, Mary, and your family are in my prayers.  Thanks be to God for the life of Ed.

Mary and family, I was so sorry to hear that Ed was gone.  He was my dad's roommate at Laclede and a warm, wonderful person.  During the last year and a half, we had many conversations about living in Texas.  May you find peace and comfort knowing that Ed is now in the arms of Jesus, living life eternal to the full.
