Bobbie Lee Bourgeois, 75, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011, in a local hospital. He was born in Welsh and was a lifelong resident of Lacassine, Louisiana.
Mr. Bourgeois was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church of Lacasssine. From the late 50’s to mid 70’s, he was co-owner and operator of Lacassine Rice Drier and Lacassine Warehouse. For many years he enjoyed raising crawfish on his farm and helping his sons raise rice and soybeans. He served on the Board of Directors for Jeff Davis Bank and was a current Board Member of The BANK.
He had a passion for vintage cars and spent endless hours restoring them in his shop at his home. He always had a smile on his face, and enjoyed telling jokes while visiting with friends and family.
Bobbie was devoted to his family and loved spending time with his wife, whom was the love of his life, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was happiest when his home was full of noisy laughter.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 56 years, Betty Mott Bourgeois, his three sons, Greg Bourgeois and wife, Perri; Charles Bourgeois and wife, Valerie; Phillip Bourgeois; one daughter, Pam Bourgeois Logan and husband, Dale; all of Lacassine. Eleven wonderful grandchildren who will serve as pallbearers, Jason Bourgeois and wife, Tara; Nicole Bourgeois Doucet and husband Randall; Kyle Bourgeois and wife, Angelle; Lindsey Bourgeois Crookshank and husband Jason; Todd Bourgeois, Adrian Logan and wife Allison, Katie Bourgeois Davis and husband Richard; and Allison Logan and companion, Ben Jones; Devin Bourgeois; Nick Bourgeois and McKenzie Bourgeois; Eleven beautiful great-grandchildren, Charley Logan, Seth Bourgeois, Kole Bourgeois, Halli Davis, Sawyer Bourgeois, Karson Bourgeois, Heidi Davis, Cooper Logan, Luke Crookshank, Wyatt Doucet and Sydney Bourgeois.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Luma Bourgeois, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bourgeois, his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Carroll Bourgeois, his niece, Donna Bourgeois O’Brien and his father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Mott, Sr., four brother-in-laws and one niece.
His funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2011 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Lacassine, LA. Rev. Roland Vaughn will officiate. Burial will be at Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 and will continue from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Sunday at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh. Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
