Cecil Byrd Kirby, age 81, formerly of Timmonsville, SC and a current resident of Louisiana was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. He was born on April 1, 1944 to Styron and Juanita Kirby.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Harriet Sonnier Kirby; children, Teresa Barnhill (Joey), Eric Kirby (Lena), John Kirby, Brett Kirby (Katie), and Elizabeth Huff (Gill); bonus children, Harlyn Mallett (Rochelle) and Helaine Gover (Keith); grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher, Willow, Cypress, Merzie, Rachel, Eann; great grandchildren, Mallori, Shawn Jr., Ethan, Kirby, and Kayden; brothers, Harold Kirby and Terry Kirby (Debbie); numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the staff at the Southwest War Veterans Home in Jennings who treated him and his family like family.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Fay Guillory; and infant brother.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He was a kind and gentle man who adored his wife, Harriet and his guitar. They enjoyed getting up in the morning to drinking a cup of coffee and having a talk. He enjoyed fishing and the beach. He truly loved the Lord and reading his bible. He also had a talent for writing music.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at First Baptist Church of Welsh 500 South Adams St. Welsh, LA from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home of Jennings for the exceptional care they provided and the compassion that was shown to Cecil in his many years there. They would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to Casy who he adored.
