He was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He graduated from Barbe High School in 2005. He excelled in soccer and held several records for the Buccaneers as a goalie. He attended college at McNeese State University. He was an inspector in industrial ultrasound for the last 12 years. His knowledge was extensive and constantly growing. He was pursuing his API-510 certification.
Cody was a kind, genuine, and loyal man of God. His smile lit up a room and he always looked for ways to make others laugh. He poured out love powerfully and was never scared to let you know he loved you. He was warm, and inviting, and had a gift of making others feel at home. He loved his wife and children immeasurably and worked endlessly to give them the best experiences. Family was his entire world. His unconditional love will be forever in their memory.
Cody’s passion for sports ran deep. Every fall Saturday and Sunday he opened up shop at 7am for a full day of games. He had an immense love for LSU football and baseball. He was an avid collector of sports memorabilia and took joyful pride in his autographed collection.
Cody is survived by his wife Katey Gardiner, children Rogan and Brooks. Parents, Jeff and Stephani Gardiner and Sammy and Carol Benoit. Grandparents Carolyn Louviere and Allen and Beverly Benoit and Gordon and Kathy Simmons. Brothers Eric Gardiner and Jack Benoit. In laws, Heith and Sharon Gaspard, and many sisters and brothers in law, nieces and nephews. Godchildren Aaliyah Pommier, Ryker Lewis, and Kolstyn Singer.

A visitation will be held at 3:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. Visitation resumes from 8:00 am to 10:30 am on Saturday, at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Rev. Prabhakar Kowtiki officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Gardiner, Jack Benoit, Tucker and Brady Amy, Ryan Pommier, and Dylan Breaux. Honorary pallbearers are Rogan and Brooks Gardiner, Jeff Gardiner, Sammy Benoit, Heith Gaspard, and Mark Daigle
