He was sometimes known as “Duck” to some of his family and friends. He attended Lacassine High School and graduated in 1959. He served his country honorably in the Louisiana National Guard. He was many things, including a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a farmer, carpenter, truck driver, heavy equipment operator, and ranch hand, (more like a target for the cattle).
He loved riding horses and teaching his children how to rodeo. He attended many little britches rodeos teaching his children how to stay on the horse (sometimes) and run the patterns for competition. He belonged to the Calcasieu Parish Junior Sheriff’s Posse along with his children and performed in rodeos and parades for many years all over the state of Louisiana. During his life, he and his wife lived in several different states while he operated heavy equipment.
He was preceded in death by his son, David; brother, Larry; parents, Beulah (Pousson) and Isaac Gott; daughter-in-law, Ingrid Meaux; and his loving wife of 60 years, Beverly Sharp, and sister Isabelle (Gott) Thomas.
He is survived by his children, Margaret (Gregory) Belfour, Michael (Susan) Gott, and Evert (Debbie Richard) Gott, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
