She was born in Mamou, and lived most of her life in the Welsh area. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Home Demonstration Club, and Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary VFW Post 3686. She was a friend to all and will be missed especially by all who knew her. She was known for her homemade blackberry jelly.
She is survived by her daughter, Earline Ardoin Ryder and husband, Donald of Welsh; sister-in-law, Joy Deshotel Fontenot of Welsh; grandchildren, Melissa Calloway and husband, Tim of Welsh, Suzette Johnson and husband, Jesse of Youngsville, LA; great grandchildren, Cade, Chet and Caleb Calloway of Welsh and Keagen Ryder of Youngsville; Jessica Calloway Hardy and husband Marcus of Lake Charles; great great grandchildren; Paige, Alyx and Reece Hardy of Lake Charles; nephews, Pat “Jimmy” Deshotel of Welsh; Gilbert Deshotel of Sulphur; and Steven Deshotel of Iowa and niece Lisa Mier of Welsh; and her special adopted son, Tommy Ardoin and wife Dean of Welsh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Ardoin; parents, Marcena and Bathilda Fontenot Deshotel; brother, Aston Deshotel and nephew, Robert “Bobby” Deshotel.
Pallbearers are Harry Ardoin Jr., Tim Calloway, Jesse Johnson and her great grandsons. Readers at mass will be her niece, Lisa Mier and nephew, Pat “Jimmy” Deshotel.
A mass of Christian Burial will be 2 pm, Monday, August 6, 2012 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. The Rev. Herbert May will officiate. Visitation will begin Sunday from 11am til 9pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh with a wake service at 6:30 pm and a rosary at 7 pm and resume Monday, 8am until service time.
