Joyce Courville

She was born in Pine Island and lived in Welsh nearly all her life. She was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Welsh. She was a Eucharistic Minister and Parishioner of the Year in 1999. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Scripture Readers, and League of Knight of Admiration.

She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Gilbert Courville; sons, Martin Lee “Marty” Sonnier and his wife Linda and Steven Emery Sonnier and his wife Mary; step-daughter, Melda Wittge; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by parents, Edmond Soileau and Eunice Lefleur; first husband, Martin Sonnier; and brother, Jeff Soileau.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2013 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Welsh. Father Herbert May will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh with a scripture service at 5:40 p.m. and rosary at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at 8:00 a.m. on Monday until the time of service.
