

He was a 1987 graduate of Welsh High School, where he excelled in Track & Field. After graduating, he joined the United States Army, where he honorably served his country for 23 years. While serving in the Army, he attended college at Eastern Illinois University.
He was a decorated war veteran who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He earned several medals including: the Meritorious Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal, among many others. After retiring from the Army, he began working as a Civil Servant for the United States government, where he remained until the end of his life.
Larry truly lived life to the fullest. He was passionate about seeing the world and all that it had to offer. He was a true southern gentleman who adored his family, friends, and above all, his only child. Larry enjoyed cooking cajun food, watching horse races, listening to soul music, shopping for antiques, and running. He was extremely proud of his Cajun heritage and visited New Orleans as often as possible. Larry was loved by everyone who knew him. He always had kind words to say and a funny story to share.
Larry is survived by one daughter, Audrianna Joy Guidry, his parents: Larry Guidry Sr. and Barbara Landry Guidry, his siblings: Lance (Starlet) Guidry and Laura (Stefan) Fontenot, maternal grandmother: Lorraine Breaux Landry, nieces: Mia Crochet, Alexis Sonnier, Madison Guidry, Kaitlyn Guidry, nephew: Janzen Jackson, paternal aunts: Judy Morgan, Bettie Guidry, Jeanette (Howard) Andrus, paternal uncle: Albert Guidry, maternal aunts: Diane (Darrell) Johnson, Judy Mathis, maternal uncles: Wayne(Ila) Landry, Chris Landry, and Roland (Melissa) Landry. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Norwood and Eunice Guidry, maternal grandfather: Louis Landry, nephews: Gavin Crochet, Blake and Braedon Guidry.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 5pm -8pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh and will resume on Thursday from 10am until service time. Funeral services will be at 12pm on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Burial will be at Oaklawn cemetery in Welsh.
