She graduated in 1978 from Welsh High School, and married her best friend, James, on July 14, 1960 of the same year. Maureen worked as a bookkeeper for many businesses throughout Lake Charles and Welsh. She enjoyed camping at Big Lake, where she would go fishing and crabbing. Maureen always looked forward to her Ladies' trip and the annual couple's trip. She was a true inspiration to others as she courageously fought cancer since 2010. Maureen was a strong and hard headed woman but was deeply loved by all.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 42 years, James McCown; sisters, Renee Hardy Hicks, Bridget Hardy Schultz, and Karen Hardy Winkles; brother, Rob Hardy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Nan.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and LaDonna Hardy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Hixson Funeral Home, Welsh, on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial, led by Father Allan Trouille, will be held on Wednesday March 31, 2021 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m.
