Melba Marie Richard, 84, of Welsh, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at a local nursing facility. She was born November 18, 1932 in Woodlawn, LA. to parents Walton and Myrtle Duplechain. She was a long time member of the Live Oak Chapter of the D.A.R. Melba loved gardening and had a very green thumb. She also loved all music, and old movies.
She is survived by two nieces, Diana Slocum of Lake Charles and Janet Romberger of Elizabethtown, PA.
Melba is preceded in death by her first husband, Calvin Demarest, and her last husband, Edwin Richard; along with her sister, Helen Gail Fusilier.
Services will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 1:30pm with Father Alan Trouille officiating. Visitation will be the same day from 11:30am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Cemetery.
