She is survived by her children, Tony Trahan (Joann), Carla Trahan, Shannon Trahan (Cindy), and Paul Trahan (Rachelle); sister, Annette Chaisson (Claude); son-in-law, Thomas Abshire; grandchildren, Josh, Victoria, Hannah, Kayla, Austin, and Jack; and eleven great grandchildren with one on the way;
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Nolan Trahan; second husband, Wilbert Trahan; father, Clarphy Benoit; mother, Mildred Walker; stepfather, Elmer Walker; daughter, Regina Abshire; son-in-law, Rodney Trahan; and great grandchild, Olivia Abshire.
Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed baking and was an avid reader of romance novels. She also volunteered at the public library and nursing homes.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. James McNally, Golden Age of Welsh and Heart of Hospice for the care and compassion they provided to Shirley in her time of need.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh on Thursday, October 08, 2026, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:30PM. The funeral home will reopen on Friday, October 09, 2026, at 9:00AM and we will depart at 10:45AM for a Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Father Alan Trouille at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Following mass, she will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Cemetery.
