August 25, 1930 – September 3, 2019
Antonio Davila, age 89, of Pharr, Texas passed away on Tuesday September 3, 2019. Antonio was born August 25, 1930 in San Benito,Texas to Dolores Davila and Luz Davila.
As a young boy Antonio became an orphan leaving his grandmother, aunt and uncle to raise him in a small "Rancho" in Mexico. Antonio had a heart for animals, especially horses. He owned a horse when he was a young man, where he made the decision to sale it a little before getting married to Juana.
He was very proud of his heritage and where he came from, Antonio's greatest love was his family. As the years went by he stood by his heritage, every chance he had he would start conversations with people that he would have somewhat of an idea that could help him meet long lost relatives. As crazy as it sounds, in doing this he was able to meet several long lost relatives on both sides of the family. The more he searched the more he found, and even if it lead him to a dead end he would take a few steps back and recollect himself and continue the search. He kept in contact with his half-brothers and sisters from his fathers second marriage.
Antonio was inspired by his heritage music, "A El le encantaba la musica Ranchera". He loved to sing and occasionally he would cross the river with some friends to attend the "Bailes" here in the United States.
He enjoyed reading and most of all he would spent countless hours in front of the television watching boxing, soccer and baseball games. Antonio was a humble man who was fearless of what he could encounter in the world.
He will greatly be missed by his family and friends. There is no one like him.
Antonio is survived by his wife, Juana G. Davila; daughter Dolores Gonzales (Martin); son Pablo Davila (Rebeca); daughter Maria Del Carmen Robles; son Mario Antonio (Tony) Davila (Cari); son Elizar Davila; son Ruben Davila (Sandra); daughter Martina Llanes (Hector); and daughter Elizabeth Edwards (Jody); sister Guadalupe Macias; 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
