January 23, 1944 – July 17, 2020
Arturo (Art) Alonzo Adame Jr. was born in Weslaco, Texas, on January 23, 1944. He entered eternal rest on July 17, 2020. Surviving is his children Cynthia Walters, Janet Wingrove, Melissa Adame, and Omar Adame. He was also preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Adame, and his Father, Arturo Adame, Sr. Art's loving family includes his brothers Norbeto Sierra, Adan Adame, and Armando Adame. Also, Art was very close to his beautiful sister Rosie Hernandez.
A common trait and accurate to the Adame name was funniness, wittiness, lovingness, and a sentimental attitude. His family, including Art, loved a good BBQ, a great country song, dancing, and family. His children and grandchildren shared the Adame genes, most notably the Adame's eyes. Art had seven beautiful granddaughters that survive him: Briana Walters, Gabriella Lugo, Sydney Walters, Ashlen Wingrove, Isabella McConahy, Victoria Adame, and Audrey Adame. One of Art's greatest blessings was a great-grandson this year, Grayson Ryan Lugo (Father Ryan Lugo). Art was so proud of all of his grandchildren and valued the time he could spend with them despite geographical separation. Arturo's extended family includes two son-in-law's Eddy Walters and David Wingrove and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Adame.
Arturo had a fantastic work ethic and provided a beautiful life for his family. Valero Gas Company employed him for over 50 years. He also loved landscaping and caring for his homes and was meticulous with his yard and even helped his elderly neighbors with their landscaping from time to time. Arturo also loved to dance and was known for his two-step. His friends and family will miss him on the dance floor. He was a man of few words but was very compassionate in his way. Art quietly helped others throughout his life and never asked for credit or anything in return. He dressed to the "nines" in his starched shirts and Wrangler jeans; his best accessories were his cowboy hat, boots, and smile. Our Dad is already greatly missed, and we were blessed enough to spend the last few weeks of his life together with him. His greatest legacy is the grandchildren. We see a lot of him in all of them.
There will be a celebration of Arturo's life on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Highland Memorial Park beginning at 7 pm. If you would like to pay your respects in person, RSVP to [email protected]. We are strictly following safety precautions for your safety and ours. If you would like to share a memory of Dad, please email the same address. The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and respiratory therapists at Rio Grande Regional Hospital for compassionate caring for our Father.
We want to thank God for our Dad, as we know he is at peace and as he told us, "This is not goodbye, it's see you later, toot-aloo!"
Luke 23:43, "And he said unto him, "Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."
