With deep love and sadness, we share the passing of Catarino "Cat" Gutierrez, who left this world on September 17, 2025, at the age of 77. Catarino was a man whose heart was as big as his smile—a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who brought warmth and joy to every life he touched. Whether through a well-timed joke, a shared laugh, or a simple moment spent together, he had a way of making people feel at home.
Born in 1948, Catarino lived a life rich in love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was best known for his sense of humor and his love of telling jokes, always ready to lighten the mood and lift spirits. He treasured time with his family more than anything—whether it was fishing on a peaceful morning, relaxing at the beach, or playing cards around the kitchen table, those simple moments were where his heart found joy.
In his quiet hours, Catarino took pride in raising his chickens, a pastime that brought him both peace and purpose. He found beauty in the everyday and love in the little things.
He is survived by his loving children: Jessica Gutierrez, Victoria Gutierrez, Jose Guadalupe Gutierrez, and Catarino Gutierrez Jr. His spirit lives on in his grandchildren: Patrick Joe Gutierrez, Dylan Joshua Gutierrez, Mark Anthony Trevino, Stephen Austin Diaz, Elva Cervantes, Jaime Cervantes, Arthur Gutierrez, and Michael Gutierrez, and in his great-grandson, Derrick Trevino.
Catarino is also remembered with love by his siblings: Candelaria Leal, Juana Gonzalez, Anna Gutierrez, Jose Gutierrez Jr., and Bernardo Gutierrez.
He now joins in eternal rest his beloved parents, Jose and Victoria Gutierrez, and his siblings Guadalupe Gutierrez, Rene Gutierrez, and Maria de la Luz Gutierrez, who preceded him in death.
Catarino’s legacy is one of laughter, love, and strong family ties. His presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered in every shared story, every smile, and every cherished family moment.
