Cruz worked up North as a migrant worker at a young age with his family. After he started his family, he decided to sell bread for his brother, Tereso, to many of the colonias in the valley. Eventually, he retired and spent most of his time with his grandchildren, planting and playing scratch-offs.
He fought until the end, and he will be missed tremendously.
