With deep love and heavy hearts, we remember the life of Daniel De Los Santos, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Harlingen, Texas in 1945, Daniel lived a life defined by compassion, unwavering faith, and a heart devoted to serving others.
Daniel was the devoted husband of Andrea De Los Santos, the love of his life and his lifelong partner. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, kindness, and the values of love, hard work, and service to others. Their bond was a true testament to enduring love and faith.
He earned his degree from the University of Pan American and went on to complete his Master’s in Counseling—a path that led him to his life’s calling. As a dedicated counselor at Weslaco High School, Daniel served countless students over the years, offering guidance, hope, and encouragement. He had a special place in his heart for migrant students, working tirelessly to help them access education and achieve their dreams. His compassionate heart and wise counsel changed the course of many lives.
Above all, Daniel was a family man. He was a proud and loving father to his daughters, DeeAnn Reyes and Dori Rodriguez, and one of his proudest moments was seeing them receive their teaching degrees, continuing the family’s legacy of education and service. He was a deeply cherished grandfather to Dereck Daniel Gonzalez, Dina Danyel Gonzalez, Juan Daniel Rodriguez, Alejandro Rodriguez, Diego Rodriguez, and Xavier Rodriguez. His love and pride grew even more with the birth of his great-grandson, Daxton Daniel Gonzalez, whose presence brought him immense joy and laughter in his later years.
Daniel’s love for his family was boundless. Every milestone, every shared memory, every family gathering was a treasure to him. His grandchildren and great-grandson were the lights of his life, and his legacy lives on through them.
He was a man of quiet faith and deep spirituality—a servant of God whose life reflected humility, generosity, and grace. He was known by many as a wonderful counselor, a loving father, a devoted husband, and an adoring grandfather. Daniel also found joy in the simple things—he was a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan, and Sundays often meant cheering on his team surrounded by the people he loved most.
Daniel is survived by his beloved wife, Andrea De Los Santos; his daughters, DeeAnn Reyes (Rene Reyes) and Dori Rodriguez (Rodrigo Rodriguez); his grandchildren, Dereck Daniel Gonzalez, Dina Danyel Gonzalez (Jose Margo), Juan Daniel Rodriguez, Alejandro Rodriguez, Diego Rodriguez, and Xavier Rodriguez; his great-grandson, Daxton Daniel Gonzalez; and his siblings Miguel De Los Santos, Emilio De Los Santos, Diana De Los Santos Marroquin, Armando De Los Santos, Irene Portillo, and Roy De Los Santos.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Dina De Los Santos, his brother Lucio De Los Santos, his parents, Emilio De Los Santos Jr. and Trinidad Martinez, whose memory he always carried in his heart.
