Esmeralda P. Miranda, 57, of Kingwood, Texas passed away peacefully at St. Luke Hospital on Friday, March 11, 2022 with her family by her side. She was born on August 5, 1964 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Maria Muniz Portillo and Narciso S. Portillo Jr. and was the third of four children.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jose Luis Miranda; her daughter Josephine Marie Miranda; her brother Jesus I. Portillo Sr. (Delores Marie) and her sister Ruby Lou P. Moraida (Noe III). Esmeralda is also survived by her in laws Jose J. Miranda (Josefina Perez). She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, cousins, and aunts and uncles and many adored friends.
Esmeralda was preceded in death by her parents Maria M. and Narciso S. Portillo Jr. and her brother Joel M. Portillo.
Esmeralda got married to the love of her life, Jose Luis Miranda, on May 24, 1996 and had their one and only daughter, Josephine Marie. She lived and did everything she could for her daughter. She loved to eat seafood and loved her husbands cooking, and loved the Houston Astros.
Esmeralda volunteered for many years at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, and was involved in the American Heart Association. She also owned her own beauty shop for several years, and was a cosmetology instructor at UCAS of McAllen, and she also worked at the Weslaco City library. Esmeralda enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley, 80's music and Tejano music. Esmeralda will forever be missed, and will forever live in our hearts.
A visitation for Esmeralda will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Highland, Weslaco, Texas 78596. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM at St Pius X Catholic Church, Weslaco, Texas 78596, followed by the interment at 3:00 PM at Highland Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers are Jesus I. Portillo Jr., Noe Moraida III, Noe Moraida IV, Brandon Benavidez, Victor Noe Amaya and Manuel Portillo Jr..
