WESLACO - Eva Escamilla Pena, 72, went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 19, 1939 in Elsa, TX to Bernabe and Margarita R. Escamilla.
Eva graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School in May of 1957. She married the love of her life Pablo G. Pena on June 23, 1957. She was co-founder of Central Plumbing & Electric Supply Co in 1964. She was the former first lady of Weslaco from 1971-1975 when her husband Pablo was the Mayor of Weslaco. She was a member of La Santisima Trinidad Methodist Church in Weslaco, TX.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents Bernabe & Margarita Escamilla and two brothers Bernabe Jr., Saul Escamilla, father-in-law Salomon T. Pena, brother-in-law Salomon T. Pena Jr. and mother-in-law Olivia G. Pena.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Pablo G. Pena; three sons, Gene Paul (Nori), David Dale, and Pablo G. (Melissa) Jr. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, David N., Gene Jr, Jeffrey M., Richard M., Jonathan, Megan M., Kassandra, Ryan R., and Kaylie; and two great-great granddaughters, Ava S. and Kaylen. She is also survived by three brothers Noe, Adan and Ruben Escamilla, two sisters Lily E. Carr and Lucy E. Gonzalez. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces located in California, Michigan and Texas; and a former daughter-in-law Dora G. Thompson.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 5 pm to 9pm with a prayer service at 7 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10 am at La Santisima Trinidad Methodist Church, 409 E. Second St. with Rev. Carlos Zamora officiating the service.

Emtombment will follow to Highland Memorial Park.
