Fortunata Cantu

Fortunata Cantu, age 76, left to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. Fortunata was born on October 14, 1946 to her parents: Juan and Adela Grimaldo in San Luis Potosi, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. She is now reunited with her parents; husband, Arturo Cantu and brothers: Israel, Samuel, Ruben and Abel Grimaldo; who have preceded her in death. Fortunata was raised in Weslaco. She was known by Fortu or Forty. She was very witty (funny), there was never a dull moment with Fortu. She became a widow at a very young age and raised her only daughter by herself. She enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved Mexican polkas and playing chalupa. She will forever be in our hearts. Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Esmeralda Cantu; grandchildren: Felix Albert Garcia, Kassandra Pompa and Alexia Gianni-Pompa. She will also be greatly missed by her great-grandchildren: Mila Sean Pompa, Mateo Giovani Maldonado; siblings: Juan Eleno, Sostenes, Esequiel, Rene Grimaldo and Delia Gutierrez.
