He was born on February 3, 1949, in Allende, Nuevo León, Mexico, to Manuel Tamez Martinez and Herlinda Garcia Leal.
Gerardo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy was spending time with the people he loved. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and could often be found fishing, hunting, or camping with his family, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. He was an exceptional cook who enjoyed bringing everyone together around the table with delicious meals and laughter.
Known for his wonderful sense of humor, Gerardo was a true jokester who could brighten any room with his wit and warm smile. He took immense pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, celebrating each of their accomplishments and filling their lives with love and encouragement. A loyal Houston Astros fan and an admirer of roosters, he found happiness in life's simple pleasures and lived each day with a generous spirit.
Though his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Gerardo leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Ana Maria Tamez; his children, Gerardo (Orfy) Tamez Jr. and Erica (Rene) Treviño; his cherished grandchildren, Gerardo III, Ashley, Alexis, Cassandra, Rene Jr., and Alexa; his beloved great-grandchildren, Alijah and Aria Luna; and his siblings, Ofelia, Manuel, Jose Guadalupe "Pepe," and Adolfo.
He is now reunited in Heaven with his precious granddaughter, Anastasia Grace Treviño, who preceded him in death.
The family finds comfort in knowing that Gerardo's faith has brought him into the loving presence of the Lord. His kindness, unwavering love for his family, joyful spirit, and the countless memories he created will forever be treasured. While he may no longer walk beside us, his love will continue to guide and inspire those whose lives he touched.
