It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Solis, age 74, of Donna, Texas, who peacefully left us on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Gloria was born in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and spent her life cherishing her family, her community, and the rich culture she loved so deeply.
For 15 years, Gloria served the Donna Independent School District as a beloved bus driver for Bus #110, touching the lives of countless children who rode with her. She was more than just a driver—she was a motherly figure to all, offering a smile, a kind word, and a sense of security to each student she transported.
Gloria was known for her deep love of Mexican culture, especially its music and food. Saturdays in her home were filled with the vibrant sounds of mariachi music and the tantalizing smells of her home-cooked Mexican dishes. She had a tradition of waking her children each Saturday morning with the loud, joyful tunes of mariachi while she prepared breakfast, creating memories that will forever live in their hearts. Her culinary creations were legendary, and the love she poured into every dish reflected her warm and generous spirit.
A passionate supporter of the Donna ISD operations, Gloria remained deeply involved in her community. She believed in the power of education and family, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Santos Solis, and their children: Juan Carlos Solis, Jesus A. Solis, Veronica Solis, Rodolfo Solis, and Jaime A. Solis. She was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Alexander Solis and Jose Luis Solis. Gloria’s memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren: Sarah, Carlos Jr., Jennifer, Angel, Juliet, Jayson, Rudy Jr., Tommy, Orlando, Isaac, Aimee, Jax, Annisa, Abigail, Alex, Jessie Jr., Brenda, Jose Luis, Brandon, and Jacob.
Though we mourn the loss of Gloria, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived—a life full of love, laughter, music, and devotion. Her spirit will continue to inspire us all, and her memory will remain in our hearts forever.
A visitation for Gloria will be held Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7PM. A chapel service will occur Monday, September 22, 2025 at 10AM with a burial to follow. All services will be held at Funeraria del Angel Highland, 6705 North Fm 88, Weslaco, Texas 78596.
Rest in peace, Gloria. You will always be loved, and you will never be forgotten.
