Grasiela Ayala Reyes, born on October 15, 1949, in Hayti, Missouri, to Benita “Nana” Torres Ayala and Alfredo “Lelo” Ayala, lived a life defined by love, service, resilience, and unshakable faith. From her early childhood as a migrant field worker, she learned the values of hard work and perseverance—lessons she carried throughout her entire life. As an adult, she dedicated herself to caring for others, working as a certified nursing assistant and caretaker. Through her devotion, compassion, and tireless work ethic, she touched the lives of countless elderly individuals and their families. She later retired in her late sixties, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication.
Grasiela was a beloved woman whose generous, loyal, faithful, and nurturing spirit made her the heart of her family. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, and creating warm, joyful memories during the holidays—especially Thanksgiving, her favorite. Every year she took charge of preparing everyone’s favorite dishes, filling her home with comfort, laughter, and love. Her family will forever miss her presence at the table and the warmth she brought to every gathering.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Grasiela deeply cherished her family. With her husband, Oswaldo Reyes Jr., she built a large and loving family that was the pride of her life. She is survived by her six children: Jose Angel Reyes; Roy Reyes and his wife Rosie; Cristina Reyes; Oswaldo Reyes III; Michael Reyes and his wife Melissa; and Melinda Villiareal. She is preceded in death by her son Rolando Reyes. Her legacy continues through her 19 grandchildren—Jakob Gabriel Reyes; Roy Reyes Jr.; Aaron Reyes; Eric Gutierrez; Trista Marie Gutierrez; Xavian X. Gutierrez; Vanessa Reyes; Oswaldo Reyes IV; Aunykah Rhai Reyes; Madison Mae Reyes; Michael Reyes Jr.; Makenzi Mae Reyes; Maralyn Mae Reyes; Malakai Alexander Reyes; Destiny Marie Melchor; Emillee Grace Melchor; Emanuel Patlan; Izaiah Daniel Patlan; and Nayomi Janelle Reyes—along with her four great-grandchildren: Oziel Santiago Reyes, Maximus Alexander Reyes, Sebastian Lee Reyes, and Jaden Emmanuel Rios.
Grasiela’s faith was at the center of her life. A deeply spiritual woman, she was active in church functions and always sought to uplift others. Her love, prayers, and guidance strengthened those around her and will continue to do so for generations to come.
Through many hardships, Grasiela fought with remarkable strength and courage until the very end. On November 16, 2025, the Lord healed her in a way that could not have been possible here on earth. Though she is no longer with us, her love remains, carried forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A visitation for Grasiela will occur Friday, November 21, 2025 from 3PM to Midnight with a Eulogy at 6PM. A chapel service will occur Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 1PM with a burial to follow. All services will occur at Funeraria Del Angel Highland, 6705 N. FM 88, Weslaco, TX 78596.
This Thanksgiving, and every year after, her family will remember her warmth, her devotion, and the way she always made home feel like love. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the lives she touched, and the faith she embodied every day.
May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
