It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Idolina Garcia Vallejo, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and teacher. Idolina left this world on October 02, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by the love.
Born to Florentino and Ampario Vallejo, Idolina was a woman of remarkable strength, determination, and wisdom. A single mother, she dedicated her life to raising her two sons, Jesse Castillo (Miriam) and Gregg Garcia, with love and devotion. Her children were the pride of her life, and she instilled in them the same values of hard work, resilience, and kindness that defined her own character.
Idolina’s professional life was equally as impactful. A passionate educator for over 34 years, she devoted herself to the lives of young students, primarily in the Weslaco and Donna School Districts. As a teacher, Idolina’s commitment to her students was unwavering. For many years, she imparted knowledge, guidance, and care to children in her classroom, with a special focus on kindergartners. It was a role she cherished, and even after retiring, she continued to serve as a substitute teacher, touching countless more lives in her community.
A woman of confidence and conviction, Idolina was a vocal advocate for what she believed in. Whether it was in her classroom, with her family, or among friends, she was unafraid to stand her ground and speak her truth. Her strength of character inspired all who knew her.
Idolina leaves behind a legacy of love and guidance that will continue through her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons, Jesse Castillo (Miriam) and Gregg Garcia, her grandchildren Jonathan Mikal Castillo, Wesley Garcia, Ozzley Garcia, Knightley Garcia, and Marly Garcia, and her great-grandchildren Jayden Castillo, Audrey Castillo, and Armani Castillo. Her family will forever cherish her teachings, her warmth, and her unshakable love.
Idolina is preceded in death by her parents, Florentino Vallejo and Ampario Ramirez, and her grandson Jesse E. Castillo Jr..
Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all those who offered support and kindness throughout her life. Though she is no longer with us, Idolina’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and in the countless students whose lives she touched over the years.
A visitation for Idolina will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM with a prayer service at 7PM.
