Mercedes, Texas- It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jose Rene Carreon on August 4, 2026. Jose Rene was born in Weslaco, Texas to Camilo and Hermina Carreon on March 23, 1975.
Jose Rene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and beloved friend. His presence brought warmth, love and laughter for all who knew him. His heart was filled with love for his family especially for his boys and his grandchildren. Nothing brought him greater joy than being surrounded by those who he loved. He experienced one of life’s greatest blessings- becoming a grandfather- a role he embraced with immense pride, love and happiness. He enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved to have family cookouts, invite family over for a meal, have a good time and laugh at jokes they all told. His nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters around him brought great joy as they remembered the “good old days en el norte.” He constantly told stories about his life and childhood- stories that brought good memories and great laughter.
His loving- kind heart and devotion to his family will be deeply missed. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with his generosity, love and affection. He will be remembered for his humble spirit, loving heart and unwavering love for his family. His presence brought comfort and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. While his absence leaves a profound void, his family finds comfort in the wonderful memories he leaves behind and all the love he shared so deeply throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Veronica Ann Carreon. His cherished children: Jeremy Rene, his wife Brianna and granddaughter Eliza Rae. Justin Rey, his girlfriend Lori and grandchildren Brandon, Olivia, and Veronica Renesmee. Joshua Daven and his girlfriend Carley. His siblings:Abel, Camilo, Rosario, Panfilo, Herminia, Jesus, Javier, Pedro, and Eric.
Jose’s family would like to invite all his family and friends to celebrate his life with visitation on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM with a rosary recited at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Highland Funeral Home in Weslaco, Texas.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Progreso Holy Spirit Church at 10:00 AM, followed by the burial at Highland Memorial burial at 11:00 AM.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Funeraria Del Angel Highland Funeral Home.
Having the honor of serving as pallbearers are Jeremy Rene Carreon, Justin Rey Carreon, Joshua Daven Carreon, Trey Galvan, Noel Lerma, Joel Lerma, Chris Carreon and Gio Trevino.
