With deep love and profound sadness, the family of Josefina R. Gonzalez announces her passing on November 13, 2025, as she went home to be with the Lord. Josefina entered eternal rest peacefully in her Weslaco residence, surrounded by the tender embrace of her family.
Born on April 16, 1937, in General Teran, Nuevo León, Mexico, to Maximino and Manuela Rios, Josefina grew into a woman of remarkable strength, wisdom, and grace. She is now joyfully reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Eusebio Gonzalez, who preceded her in death.
Josefina leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion through her children: Rolando Gonzalez (Sonia), Esmeralda Vasquez (Bernabe Sr.), Renato Gonzalez (Linda), and Raul Gonzalez (Alyssa).
Her memory will also be treasured by her grandchildren:
Raul Gonzalez Jr., Alyssa Gonzalez, Bianca Vasquez, Illiana Vasquez, Bernabe Vasquez III, Orlando Gonzalez, Laryssa Gonzalez, Anika Gonzalez, Delina Gonzalez, Julian Gonzalez, Sidney King, and Zachary King; and her great-grandchildren: Malaina Jae Munguia, Luna Gonzalez, and Milo Adan Gonzalez.
Josefina’s heart belonged to her family. She was known for her simple, loving question—“How are you doing?”—a genuine expression of her concern for everyone she loved. She enjoyed life’s gentle pleasures: tending to her garden, baking under the loving nickname “Josie’s Bakery,” cooking her family’s favorite meals, sitting outside to enjoy the breeze and the sound of the birds, and engaging in conversations about anything and everything.
She was hardworking and courageous, a woman whose infectious laugh could brighten any room. Her kindness extended to all creatures, especially her cherished pets and chickens. Those who knew Josefina knew a woman of deep respect, quiet wisdom, resilience, loyalty, and an unwaveringly kind heart.
Though she will be deeply missed, Josefina’s spirit and love will continue to live on in the generations she nurtured. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, held in God’s eternal light, and reunited with her beloved Eusebio.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
