Pachin, as he was known by all who knew him, passed away peacefully on March 25, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer.
His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Pachin was born in Mercedes to Celestino E. Dominguez Sr. and Manuela Loya on August 15, 1948. He attended Mercedes schools and graduated from Mercedes High School. Class of '67.
He was a Vietnam Veteran and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968-1971.
Pachin retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Mercedes in 2004 after working as a letter carrier for 33 years. He was also a member of the Mercedes Knights of Columbus and the American Legion, Post 172.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved daughter Judy Dominguez Trunnell, his only grandson, Donovan Martinez, and his sister Lela Dominguez.
Pachin is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 51 years, Lily Saldana Dominguez, his son Michael Dominguez (Sandy), his daughter Janette Dominguez Martinez (Ramon), and son-in-law Steven Trunnell (Judy+) brother Celestino Dominguez Jr (Dolores), 2 sisters Dahlia Dominguez and Felicitas (Lupita Arguelles (Lupe+).
His greatest blessings also surviving him are his 6 granddaughters,Kimberly (Jay), Clarissa (Israel), Dr. Claudia Dominguez, Kelly, Hannah and Gabbie. 5 great grandchildren, Blake, Cash, Brooklyn, John Matthew and Avery. Also several loving cousins, nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held at Del Angel Funeral Home-Highland Memorial in Weslaco Tx, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday March 31st. The Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Mercedes at 9 AM on Thursday April 1st, for immediate family only. We do ask for those to follow and wait outside of church to join us in the escort. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, we ask that you please follow the CDC guidelines with social distancing and wearing masks. Burial to follow at Highland Memorial cemetery in Weslaco with the J.C. Garcia American Legion, Post 172 conducting the services with full Military Honors and by the Patriot Guard Riders.
Serving as pallbearers will be Srgt. Juan Moya and the American Legion Post, 172.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Mercedes Class of '67. (Forever friends)
The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Ghaddar and his wonderful nurses, Benji, Velma and Gina and the rest of the staff from Texas Oncology in Weslaco, who provided wonderful care and support for our loving husband and dad. Also special thanks to Kindred Hospice and their staff, Ruby Torres, Dan, Yesenia and Juan Salinas.
