Julia was born on September 21, 1940, in General Terán, N.L., Mexico. She later established herself in Mercedes, Texas, graduating from Mercedes High School in 1959. She worked as a bookkeeper with Salinas, Allen & Schmitt until her retirement in 2015. She remained deeply rooted in the local Christian community, singing in the choir and participating in missionary work during her earlier years.
Julia touched the lives of those around her with her strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit. Despite the challenges of her illness, she remained a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Julia embodied kindness and compassion. Her selflessness and generosity knew no bounds, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of family and friends. Her legacy of love will be cherished by all who were blessed to share in her journey.
Julia is survived by her two sons, Michael (Cristal) Garcia and Daniel (Ines) Garcia; her grandchildren Rita (Adrian) Limas, Julie Garcia, Daniel A. Garcia, Arista (Nick) Hall, Ashleigh (Ian) Stoner, Samantha Garcia, and Luca Garcia; and her five great-grandchildren Daniel A. Garcia Jr., Adrienne G. Limas, Gabriel Garcia, Finn M. Hall, and Charlotte J. Stoner .She is also survived by her sisters Bernaida McClellan and Maria Esmeralda (Enrique) Guerra, her brother David Prado, and her goddaughter Lydia (Christobal) Perez.
Julia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Arturo C. Garcia Jr.; her parents, Guadalupe and Ignacia S. Prado; and her siblings Lupita, Isidra, Ismael, Esmeralda, and Wally Prado.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Funeraria Del Angel Highland Funeral Home, Weslaco, Texas, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life at 7:00 p.m.
Services will continue on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, beginning at 8:00 a.m., with a 1:00 p.m. prayer service, followed by burial at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, Texas.
