Julian "Veve" Salas Jr.

Julian "Veve" Salas Jr., age 73, of Mercedes, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at his residence in Mercedes. Julian was born in Weslaco, Texas on February 16,1950 to Julian Salas Sr. and Rosa Hernandez.

Julian Salas was a honest and loving man. He loved his family and his church. As a child Julian’s mother would walk him and his siblings to the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church located in Weslaco, TX. Julian has been a man of great faith since his childhood days and a devout catholic until his final moments. Julian worked in the agriculture industry as a truck driver for most of his life, he enjoyed his job and would help secure other families in his city with work. Julian enjoyed the outdoors and after retiring from the industry he would find himself going on long walks with his children and family. A skilled man with his hands Julian would often enjoy carpentry, building tables, benches, and even club houses for his children to enjoy and gather round while growing up. Julian being a family man and man of faith would lead our family gathering with an opening prayer at every major event. Julian was a pillar of faith and will dearly missed.

He is now reunited with his father, Julian Salas Sr.; mother Rosa Hernandez and siblings: Hilda Salinas, Manuel Salas, Oralia Martinez, Rogelio Salas; who have preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving children: Alicia Hinojosa, Crystal Salas, Lucinda Perez and Manuel Salas.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 11 am, with a Rosary recited at 7:00 pm with an overnight visitation, continuing to Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Funeraria del Angel Highland in Weslaco. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
