

Larry Wayne Herold, 79, of Weslaco, Texas, passed away on September 26, 2026. He was born August 15, 1947, in Mercedes, Texas, to Kathryn and Grady Herold, Sr.
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda; his parents, Kathryn and Grady Herold, Sr.; and his brothers, Darius and Grady Herold.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer H. (Doug) Strawbridge; his son, Blake Herold; his brother, David (Carole) Herold; and his grandchildren, William, Olivia, and Kate.
Larry met his beloved Linda in 1965 during their high school years, and they shared 56 years of marriage. Together they raised their two children, Jennifer and Blake, and built a life filled with love and laughter.
A gifted athlete, Larry excelled in football at Mercedes High School and New Mexico Highlands University. His love of sports remained throughout his life. Following college, he proudly served his country in the Army National Guard.
Larry was also a talented artist who enjoyed sketching and painting. When Jennifer and Blake were growing up, he often helped with their school projects, creating artwork so impressive that their teachers sometimes wondered how they had become such talented artists. His humor and creativity were a memorable part of their childhood.
Larry enjoyed hunting, collecting arrowheads, and, in his later years, coins. One of his greatest joys was becoming a grandfather. William, Olivia, and Kate knew him as their proud Grandaddy, a title he held close to his heart.
Knowing Larry is now at peace and reunited with Linda brings comfort to those who loved him. After 56 years together, it is a beautiful thought that they are together again in the presence of the Lord.
Larry will be remembered for his laughter, humor, creativity, love of sports, and the memories he created throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
