Leonel Salazar Sr.

Leo was born on December 10, 1939, in Rio Grande City, Texas, to the late Crispin Salazar and Celia Reyna Salazar. From an early age, he learned the value of faith, hard work, and perseverance—principles that would guide him throughout his life.

He is survived by his devoted wife and partner in life, Emma Quesada Salazar, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, faith, and dedication. Together they built not only a successful business but also a beautiful family. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved children, Ida (Felipe) Garcia and Leonel (Marty Rojas) Salazar Jr., along with many relatives, friends, and all whose lives were touched by his kindness, generosity, and unwavering example.

"Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; they will not be ashamed when they speak with their enemies in the gate." — Psalms 127:4–5

Among Leo's greatest blessings were the generations of family that followed him. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Leo III, Abraham, John Moses, Elias, and Frida Salazar; Angela Marie, Daniel, Saul, Michael, and Faith Rose (Ramon); and his cherished grandson, Brandon Salazar, the beloved son of his late son, Marco Salazar.

He was further blessed with his precious great-grandchildren: Case, Mylah, Remi, Hailey and Bailey, each of whom brought him tremendous joy. Through them, Leo's legacy of faith, perseverance, and unconditional love will continue to flourish for generations to come.

What can be said of our patriarch, Leo Salazar? He was a man who rose from the humblest of beginnings through determination, faith, and an unbreakable work ethic. There was not a day in his life that he did not work toward building a better future for his family.

As a young boy, Leo worked alongside his family as a farmworker in the fields. As a teenager, he continued working with his parents, Celia and Crispin Salazar, at their family restaurant, where he learned the business that would eventually become his life's calling.

After marrying the love of his life, Emma, they courageously began their own family business with a small neighborhood grocery store. Leo was never one to settle. Filled with vision and energy, he believed there was always another level to reach. Before long, he began serving hot meals from the store, and through countless hours of hard work, sacrifice, and God's blessings, the business flourished.

The journey was not without its hardships, but Leo's spirit never allowed him to give up. His favorite philosophy was simple yet powerful: **"Don't quit."** No matter the obstacle, he always gave God the glory first, believing that every blessing came from Him. Though Leo and Emma were young and had limited formal education, their steadfast faith in God, relentless determination, and willingness to work tirelessly helped turn their dreams into reality.

Beyond his love for his family and his work, Leo found joy in music. During the little free time he allowed himself, he enjoyed sharing his love of music with family and friends. A gifted songwriter, he wrote numerous original songs that were both registered and recorded, leaving behind another lasting expression of his heart and creativity.

Leo's greatest legacy is not measured by the businesses he built or the songs he wrote, but by the values he lived every day. He taught his family that faith comes first, that honest hard work is honorable, and that no challenge is too great for those who trust in God and refuse to give up.

His life can be summed up in the words he lived by:

**God first. Hard work. Don't quit.**

Those who knew and loved Leo will forever carry his example in their hearts. His legacy will continue through his family, who are committed to honoring the principles he instilled in them and the love he so generously shared.

Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we rejoice in knowing that he has gone home to be with the Lord. His race is finished, his work is complete, and his faithful legacy will live on for generations to come.
