Luis Alvarado

Lived in Progreso during his youth then migrated to California with siblings to work in the Agriculture industry. Met Juanita Canales in California shortly after and married. Two children were born to them while in California, Angel and Antonio (Tony). Luis was a loving husband, father, grandfather and had only recently become a great grandfather. He was also known to be kind, generous and had an infectious smile that would brighten everyone's day. Luis always thought of others and their well being before thinking of his own. He loved every aspect of agriculture commerce. He was extremely proud of his small nursery business. He sold household plants to include palm trees and banana trees. In his young married life while still in California, he was a huge advocate for Cesar Chavez united farm workers Labor Union. Luis eventually moved his family from California to Texas where he continued to work in the Agriculture Industry for years. He was a member of Amigos De Progreso Adult Day Care Center, in progreso, TX. He was a man of very strong faith. Luis was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Luis survived by his children; Angel Alvarado, Antonio Alvarado (Minerva Sandoval Alvarado), his grandchildren; Alexandria C. Alvarado, Marc A. Alvarado, great grandson; Adonis Alvarado Nelson, his siblings; Maria Alvarado Orozco, Nena Alvarado Bravo.

He is preceded in death by his wife; Juanita "Janie" Canales Alvarado, his parents; Margarito Alvarado, Amalia Alcala Alvarado, his siblings; Margarito Alvarado, Domingo Alvarado, Agapito Alvarado, Pablo Alvarado, Pilo Alvarado, Hermenegilda (Mere) Alvarado and Maria (Lin) Alvarado Alejandro.

A visitation for Luis will be held Monday, January 13, 2025 from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Funeraria del Angel Highland, 6705 N. FM 88, Weslaco, TX 78599. A rosary will occur Monday, January 13, 2025 at 10:00 AM, Weslaco, TX 78599. A funeral mass will occur Monday, January 13, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 210 Watts Ave, Progreso, TX 78579. An interment will occur Monday, January 13, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Mercedes Restlawn Cemetery, Mercedes, TX.
