

With profound sadness and unwavering faith in the promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of Maria Alma Lopez, who entered into the presence of the Lord on June 25, 2026, at her residence in Weslaco, Texas, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.
Maria Alma was born on May 11, 1959, in León, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Martin Lopez and Francisca Sandoval. Throughout her life, she exemplified faith, compassion, and selfless devotion to God and others. A faithful servant of the Lord, Maria Alma dedicated her entire life to her Catholic faith, finding great purpose in prayer, ministry, and acts of mercy.
She was a devoted Catholic whose love for God was evident in all she did. Maria Alma was deeply involved in her church community and faithfully served in the choir at Our Lady of Guadalupe. She possessed a profound devotion to the Holy Rosary, especially praying for the deceased and offering comfort to grieving families. Her ministry extended to praying novenarios for the departed, visiting the sick, and performing countless works of mercy for those in need. Through her unwavering faith, she became a source of strength, hope, and spiritual guidance to many.
Above all, Maria Alma cherished her family. She was a loving mother and an adoring grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her beloved grandson. She treasured every moment shared with him, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and affection. She also enjoyed sewing and found happiness in serving others through her many talents and acts of kindness.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving children, Alma Isabel Lopez (Desiderio Alvarado Jr.) and Francisco Angel Lopez; and her beloved grandson, Desiderio Jose Alvarado, who brought immeasurable joy to her life.
She is also survived by her dear siblings: Irma Rodriguez (Victor), Maria Sylvia Dominguez (Joel), Lupita Lopez, Raul Lopez (Celia), Ismael Lopez, Andres Martin Lopez, Renata Vela (David), Alejandra Trevino (Ballardo), Elvia Lopez, Julie Loera (Celso), Francisco Lopez, and Eugenio Lopez, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Maria Alma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jose Luis Lopez; her parents, Martin Lopez and Francisca Sandoval; and her sister, Maria del Socorro Lopez.
Although her family mourns her earthly departure, they find peace and comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her beloved husband and loved ones who have gone before her. Her legacy of faith, prayer, compassion, and unwavering devotion to God will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
