

Maria Lucina Rodriguez passed away peacefully on April 7th, 2023 surrounded by her children. Maria was a very caring person who always put her family first. Her sweet and considerate nature made her a joy to be around, and anyone who met or talked to her once was touched by her warmth and kindness. She had a talent for cooking and loved to crochet, but above all, her family was her greatest love. She enjoyed tending to her garden and filling her home with the delicious aromas of her cooking. She worked as a migrant farm worker for many years before finding work as a head custodian for the Donna Independent School District, from which she retired in 2018. She was a hardworking and dedicated employee who took pride in her work and was beloved by students and faculty alike. Maria is survived and missed by her children Francisco Rodriguez (Erika), Robert Rodriguez Jr. (Jennifer), Juan Carlos Rodriguez (Cassie), Maria Del Rosario De Leon-Sustaita (Julian), Severiana Garza (Javier), Juana Angelica Rodriguez-Perry (Michael), and Marisela Montemayor (Hector); grandchildren Emily Vanessa Rodriguez, Sarah De Leon, Alissa Ruiz, Melanie Nicole Garza, Sophia Natalie Garza, Mariela Lizette Sepulveda, Daniela Giselle Sepulveda, Andrea Marie Sepulveda, Olivia Perry, Stephanie Montemayor, Valeria Montemayor, Marleen Montemayor, Larissa Nicole Rodriguez, Aaron Gabriel Rodriguez, Carlos Daniel Rodriguez, Frank Anthony Rodriguez, Axel Alvarez, Jose Armando Alvarez, Jose Luis De Leon, Alejandro Javier Garza, Anthony Garza, Hector Montemayor Jr., Robert Alejandro Rodriguez, and great-grandchild Nevaeh Maria De Leon. Maria Lucina Rodriguez is preceded in death by her husband Roberto Rodriguez. Maria had a special way of making everyone feel loved and valued. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 11th, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Highland, 6705 North Fm 88, Weslaco, Texas 78596. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Donna, Texas, followed by the burial at Highland Memorial Park, 6705 North Fm 88, Weslaco, Texas 78596.
