Marshall Gene Grotts

Marshall Gene Grotts, age 78, of Peoria, Illinois passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021. Gene was born August 25, 1942 to Alice Jordan and Clifton Leroy Grotts.

Gene was a graduate from Plymouth High school and Gem City Business College. He went on to Caterpillar in Peoria and retired after 30 years . He enjoyed wood working, antique collecting, traveling , & story telling. He was most known for his gardening and being the "tomato man". He enjoyed his family, especially all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed being a Winter Texan with his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Gene is survived by daughter Vicki McClure (Merle); son Kenny Forner (Traci); daughter Tracy Brown (Sean); and daughter Carol Grotts; sister Sandi Whitford, sister Linda Kirbach, brother Mike Grotts (Wilma), sister Rose Wilson (William), brother Clifton " Skip" Grotts, brother Earl Grotts (Karen), half-brother Rick Grotts and half-sister Edie Nichols (Chris); grandson Merle L McClure, grandson Dean McClure, granddaughter Heather Sims (Toby), granddaughter Sarah Settles (Larry), grandson Christian Brown, granddaughter Brittney Plank and 11 Great- Grandchildren.

Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife Brenda K (Corp) Grotts; sister Mary Ann Griffin; and brother -in-laws: Charles Griffin, John Whitford and Ralph Kirbach.

Iam not sure what to say, he was a very kind person. Really enjoyed going to the farm and visiting with him and Brenda who I miss so much, but just knowing they will be together again makes it a little better. R I P GINO ME AND LOUIE WILL MISS YOU..Give Brenda a hug from me.

We are so sorry for your loss. My brother Ronald was good friends with Gene and spoke to him a few weeks ago. I do remember your family in Plymouth and getting fresh milk from your family, even getting to milk a cow. We will keep your family in our prayers at this most difficult time.
