He was born in Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon Estados Unidos Mexicanos with the given name Leodegario Silva Olveda by Pedro and Domitila Silva. He later changed his name to Olegario. As a young man he and his older brother migrated to North Texas and later to Idaho for work. It was there he met his future wife, Maria. On January 2, 2025, just 14 days before his passing, they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. This hardworking husband and father, known to his family and friends as Ole and Gallo was a jack of all trades. You could regularly find him tinkering with woodcrafts and machinery in his workshop. Throughout his life, "he never met a stranger, just a friend he had not yet met." He was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed traveling, and was fortunate enough to visit England and Hawaii, and even took the kids to Disneyland. Olegario was adventurous. His adventures included swimming out to a small Hawaiian island off Oahu, camping in Idaho the mountains, fishing the arroyo, swimming, water skiing, snow tubing, and hunting. He will forever be remembered in our hearts for his joking ways, generous soul, and contagious laughter.
He is survived by his spouse; Maria U. Silva, his children; Alicia S. Santiago, Diana S. Herrera, Maricela S. Martinez, Christina U. Silva, Roberto U. Silva, Ruben U. Silva, his 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.
