If you knew Robert, you knew he loved talking about history, the Bible, current events, and LOVED a good—or even a decent—cup of coffee. He was known for his optimistic outlook on life, his unwavering faith, and his ability to make people laugh. He always wore his signature mustache with pride, and you could often find him wearing his favorite flat cap.
Robert poured into the lives of everyone he met, beginning in the classroom many years ago as a Biomedical Professor at Texas State Technical College. His students would describe him as direct, challenging, and a "tough love" professor who genuinely wanted them to succeed. He later turned his passion into a thriving business, traveling throughout Texas to inspect and maintain medical equipment for healthcare facilities. He took great pride in his work and in serving others with excellence.
Above all, Robert was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared a loving marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Rivera, and took immense pride in his family. Whether he was attending baseball games, cheering at dance practices, or playing with Legos and Barbies, Robert did whatever he could to make his family his greatest priority.
Robert, you fought the good fight throughout your life. We take comfort in knowing you are now dancing your cumbias in heaven, reunited with your dad, and embracing him with a long-awaited hug.
He is survived by his sweet mother, Julia Rodriguez Rivera; loving wife, Mary Rivera; his children, Emmanuel Rivera; Isaac Rivera and wife, Jessica Rivera; Lisa Galvan-Treviño and husband, Jose Treviño; and Laura Galvan-Shofner and husband, Jacob Shofner. He also leaves a legacy through his cherished grandchildren: Alexa Nicole Rivera, Audrey Elizabeth Rivera, Addison Grace Rivera, Abrielle Rose Rivera, Bianca Rivera, Olivia Rivera, Trystian Treviño, Jeyden Treviño, Evelyn Treviño, and even his beloved fur grandchildren, Luna and Chili.
He is also survived by his siblings Amparo Salazar, Mario Rivera (Ernestine), Amalia San Miguel (Martin), Ortesia Rivera, Norma Mendez, Leroy Rivera (Lilly Rivera).
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Roberto Rivera Sr., and his sister, Noelia Corral.
His legacy of faith, laughter, hard work, and unconditional love will live on in the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
