With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Romulo Chapa, age 49, who left us on September 18, 2025, at his residence in Weslaco, Texas. Romulo was a man whose warmth, humor, and love for life touched the hearts of all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Romulo had an undeniable love for the outdoors, the country life, and all that it had to offer. He found joy in the simple things, especially in his fondness for roosters and horses, which brought him comfort and a sense of peace. He also had a passion for collecting antiques, often finding treasures that sparked his imagination and his sense of history.
A man of many talents, Romulo thrived in the car sales business, where his genuine personality and quick wit made him a favorite among both colleagues and customers. His infectious laugh and easygoing nature had a way of making everyone feel at ease. Whether he was sharing a laugh over a BBQ, enjoying music, or making others smile, Romulo’s presence was a constant source of light.
Most importantly, Romulo was a devoted family man. He cherished his loved ones above all else and poured his heart into his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. His deep love for his family was evident in everything he did, and he was always ready to offer support, encouragement, or a good laugh when it was needed most.
Romulo was preceded in death by his grandparents: Esteban & Maria del Rosario Gracia-Ochoa and Daniel & Maria Enedelia Gonzalez-Chapa; his uncle, Daniel Chapa; and aunts: Belia Chapa, Lydia Gracia-Ochoa, and Rejina Garcia-Ochoa. Though they are no longer with us, Romulo’s memory will remain a guiding light for those who loved him.
