Amelia F. Castro

Amelia Fernandez Castro was born on August 25, 1929, in the small town of Opodepe, Sonora, Mexico, to Castula Ibarra and Antonio Fernandez. She was the second youngest of seven children and shared her life with her beloved siblings: Elizardo, Francisco, Antonio, Wilfrido, Berta, and Liobi, all of whom preceded her in passing. She was the last of her family line.

In November 1956, she married Louis Castro and later immigrated to the United States, where they made their home in La Puente, California. In 1963, they adopted their daughter, Gloria, who became the center of Amelia’s world.

Amelia was widowed in 1989 and carried the memory of her husband with her for 35 years. On January 12, 2026, she peacefully passed away at her home in La Puente, surrounded by her family.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Gloria; her cherished grandchildren, Marcela, Louis, and Alexandra; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

A viewing will be held at Funeraria Del Angel West Covina, located at 2333 West Merced Ave, West Covina, CA 91790, on February 9, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

The funeral service is scheduled for February 10, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, located at 1345 Turnbull Canyon Rd, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745.

The graveside will follow on February 10, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm at Resurrection Cemetery, located at 966 N. Potrero Grande Dr, Rosemead, CA 91770.
