Carmen Villalon Basey

Born on May 18, 1937 to Carmenlita and Francisco, on the beautiful island of Cuba, Carmen Villalon Basey peacefully transitioned on November 28, 2025 in West Covina, California, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old.

An adoring daughter and sister, Carmen enjoyed spending quality time with her 4 sisters Ana Rosa, Antonia, Xiomara and Olga and 2 brothers Carlos George and Cliffort, all of whom preceded her in death. After finishing high school in Cuba, Carmen became a seamstress and worked professionally as one for more than 60 years.

In 1955, Carmen married Charles William Basey of the United States Navy. They moved to Los Angeles, California in 1963 shortly after their daughter, Sandra was born. They continued to build a full beautiful life as husband and wife, parents and grandparents. C.W. and Carmen spent 29 years together until his untimely passing in 1984.

Carmen, then met her best friend and Life Partner Juan Ortega. Life with Juanito was joyous with the family growing with great grandchildren and more extended family and friends.

Carmen was an excellent cook and brought the flavors of Cuba with her, although her pancakes were her grandsons favorite. Her home was always filled with good food and laughter. And everyone was welcomed. She lived abundantly and made sure she looked good while doing it. Carmen was Catholic and began attending Sunday Spanish services with friend and caregiver Tanya Zuniga.

Remaining to cherish Carmen's memory are her partner Juan Ortega, daughter Sandra Basey, grandsons Charles William Malone and Markie Bradley, great grand-children Dominique Malone, Charles Malone Jr., Cherish Malone, Kahlya Malone, and Roland Martin and brother-in-law Angel Ortega.

The immediate family would like to express deep gratitude to Tanya and Ricardo Zuniga for your compassion, patience, dedication and love for Carmen. Thank you for your loving care and dependable presence.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel West Covina at 2333 W. Merced Ave, West Covina, CA 91790.

Memorial service will be held Friday, December 19, 2025 from 9:00 am until 10:15 am also at Funeraria Del Angel West Covina.

Interment will be at Oakdale Memorial Park, located at 1401 S. Grand Ave, Glendora, CA 91740 from 11:00 am until Noon.
