

Celia Valdes, a long time resident of La Puente, CA., died peacefully Sunday the 17th of April, surrounded by her family. She was born in Ixtapa, Jalisco, Mexico, on May 11, 1936. At the age of 14 she came to the United States and attended Lincoln High School in Los Angeles, CA.
Celia married her husband, Leo Valdes, on July 11, 1953. They were married for 55 years before her husband passed away in 2008.
They leave behind their daughter Deborah Harrison and her husband Derek, son Michael and wife Julie, son Jeffrey and wife
Leslie, son Simon and wife Eva, daughter Delphine and husband Caesar, daughter Alicia and husband Henry, 21 grand children
and 9 great grand children.Celia was employed by the Bassett Unified School District as a Bilingual Instructional Aid and
Campus Aid for more than 40 years. She was actively involved in PTA and served as the PTA president on more than one occasion.
She enjoyed working with students of all ages.One of Celia’s passions was to travel and one of her favorite places
to visit was England, which she visited on several occasions. She also visited France, Scotland, Utah, Hawaii, and New England.
Celia loved to whistle, reading British history, old movies, dancing and singing to Mariachi music.
Life revolved around good food – especially ribs – with family and friends.Celia will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Her spirit and love of life will be her legacy. Funeral arrangements are being entrusted to Funeraria Del Angel Peirce Brothers in West Covina.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 20, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and a service will be held on Thursday, April 21, at 4:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Van Wig Elementary school Library to purchase books for students to enjoy and instill a love of reading.
