Richard Carlos Hawkins, lovingly known as Gordo, was born on June 12, 2004, to Richard and Alma Hawkins in Long Beach, California. As the cherished youngest of siblings of five , he is survived by his sisters: Elizabeth, Ashley, Monique, and Pricilla, along with his adored nephews, Dominic and Mjay, who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.
Gordo radiated life and joy, with a playful spirit and a heart full of kindness. He had a unique ability to make friends wherever he went, even if he just met them moments before, just like when he invited a homeless person into our home to provide them with a shower and a meal. His love for meeting new people and brightening their day with his playful antics made every encounter memorable. Gordo was not just a friend; he embodied friendship itself, embracing everyone with open arms and a joyful heart.
Gordo was a big-hearted individual, often described as a big baby in a man’s body, whose love for his family was immeasurable. He will be remembered for his silly nature and the joy he brought to those around him.
He cherished every moment spent with loved ones during family gatherings, barbecues, and celebrations. His role as an uncle to Dominic and baby Mjay was particularly special to him. Gordo had a passion for the arts, engaging in drawing, sketching, and tattooing. He had a fascination with classic cars and Harley motorcycles, and his love for music shown through in his singing, dancing, and freestyle performances. He even collaborated with friends to create a couple of demos, showcasing his creativity.
A visitation for Richard will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel West Covina, 2333 West Merced Ave, West Covina, CA 91790.
